WestGrid computing resources have played a key role in a new study into the potential health hazards of the revolutionary nano-sized particles known as ‘buckyballs’. The study predicts that the buckyball molecules are easily absorbed into animal cells, providing a possible explanation for how the molecules could be toxic to humans and other organisms.

WestGrid will be hosting their 2008 Retreat on June 25-27th in Victoria, BC. It will be held in conjunction with CANARIE's Annual General Meeting.

The retreat will provide an opportuntiy for the support team to participate in various workshops. There will also be a meeting for WestGrid's Senior Planning Committee, Executive Committee and Governing Council.

Attendence to this year's retreat is limited to support personnel and WestGrid committee members.
