The BCNet DNS server had a disk failure August 22, 2017. This was fixed within a couple of hours but it seems that some providers have long update times. In particular Shaw has taken about 24 hours for DNS updates to take effect.

Users may have received messages about unable to find any ".westgrid.ca" servers. If you are still unable to connect please wait for a few hours and try again.

BCNet rebuilt the DNS late August 22 so the Master DNS is now working. However the changes will take time to percolate through the internet....

On August 31, 2017, the Breezy and Lattice systems at the University of Calgary will be defunded. This means they will no longer be operated by WestGrid and will be managed by the University of Calgary directly.

SciNet, a Compute Ontario consoria led by the University of Toronto, is seeking two new technical staff to join its HPC team.

SciNet's supercomputing facilities power work from the biomedical sciences and aerospace engineering to astrophysics and climate science and it is funded by CFI, NSERC, the Ontario Government, Fed Dev Ontario, and the University of Toronto.
