Cedar outage planned for April 29

Compute Canada's Cedar system will be unavailable on April 29, starting at 6:00 am (Pacific). This outage is necessary to complete electrical work that will allow us to expand Cedar in the future. We will also be upgrading the file system and the network (Omni-Path) drivers.

Rules for job submission have changed On April 16, a new rule was implemented that prevents job submission from directories that reside within the home filesystem.

If the command:
readlink -f $(pwd) | cut -d/ -f2
(type exactly as shown)
returns "home", jobs cannot get submitted from that directory.

This rule change was implemented to reduce the load on the /home filesystem and improve responsiveness for interactive work.

We recognize the change may have interrupted some job pipelines that were set up to use the /home filesystem. We apologize for any interruptions to past jobs and any additional work this may create for future job submissions.

If you have questions regarding the upcoming outage or the rule change for job submissions, please email support@computecanada.ca.
