Save The Date: Canadian Research Software Conference - May 29 - 30, 2018
To further build a cohesive Canadian community of research software developers and to strengthen the impact of public funds for research, CANARIE is hosting the first annual Canadian Research Software Conference on May 29 - 30, 2018 in Ottawa, ON.
Who should attend?
You could be an active developer of research software (regardless of your job title), a computational researcher, a student, a developer of open source software to support research, or a researcher with an interest in software development.
How to participate in the program
The call for participation will launch shortly. There will be 3 ways to contribute:
- Short talks: 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for Q&A
- 5-minute lightning talks: You could share your ideas with the group quickly through a super-short talk, perfect for new presenters.
- Poster competition: If you’re a student or just starting your career, you could enter a poster in our competition. There will be prizes for the top three (3) entries as voted by conference attendees.
Topics for talks and posters should concentrate on the software, rather than the research, but are otherwise only limited by your imagination. You could describe how you used software to solve a research problem, or discuss software engineering techniques or even discuss how you use software on non-traditional devices (mobile, sensors, drones, etc.) to support research.
We are also interested in non-technical issues surrounding research software development, such as managing a research software project/team, working with non-technical disciplines or keeping up to date with new technologies.
