CLUMEQ (Consortium Laval, Université du Québec, McGill and Eastern Quebec), one of the 7-consortia making up Compute Canada has completed a supercomputing platform at the Quebec site. It is on the campus of Université Laval inside a renovated van de Graaf silo, and is one of the most eco-friendly facilities in the world, with an innovative cylindrical layout for the data center. IUPAP Young Scientist Prize --  COMPUTATIONAL PHYSICS

The Commission on Computational Physics (C20) of IUPAP seeks nominations for its 2010 Young Scientist Prize. Nominees should have a maximum of 8 years of research experience following their PhD and should be the principal performer of original work in Computational Physics of outstanding scientific quality. Summit 09: Partnerships in CI Development was held in Banff last week. The event provided a venue for many technology-driven groups to co-locate their meetings alongside the Summit to take part in side networking or new collaboration opportunities. These side meetings included the WestGrid Executive Committee and the WestGrid Member Council meetings held on Wednesday, October 15, 2009. Various WestGrid Principal Investigators and Vice-President (Research) and/or delegates were in attendance.

HPDC2010 -- Call for Workshops
We invite proposals for workshops to be held with the ACM Symposium on High Performance Distributed Computing to be held in Chicago, Illinois in June 2009. Workshops will be held June 21-22, preceding the main conference sessions June 23-25.
