Like all Canadians, we were shocked and heartbroken to hear the fate of Ukraine International Airlines PS752, killing all 176 people on board. Sixty-three of the victims were Canadian citizens. Among them were Compute Canada users, four with connections to the University of Alberta and two to Concordia University.

On Sunday, January 12 between 6 am - 12 pm (PST) / 9 am - 3 pm (EST), the Arbutus/UVic network supplier BCNET will perform hardware and software upgrades on equipment that supplies external connectivity to Arbutus. Maintenance work is expected to require 20 minutes during which time instances will continue running but there will be no access from outside the Arbutus internal network.
