WestGrid User Awarded Sloan Fellowship

University of British Columbia Assistant Professor Scott Oser, Department of Physics and Astronomy and Canada Research Chair in Solar Neutrinos, has been awarded a 2008 Sloan Research Fellowship for his work on the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory in the field of neutrino oscillations.

Oser’s research has provided insight into the properties of neutrinos and the core of the sun. WestGrid computing resources are used in parts of Oser’s work, supporting these new discoveries. The Sloan Fellowship award is intended to enhance the careers of outstanding young faculty members in the sciences.
