Storage Hardware Maintenance

In order to address a storage hardware issue, Orcinus will be unavailable starting during the following date:

     Tuesday, 2014-09-09, starting at 10:00AM (Pacific)

The outtage is expected to last approximately 2 days.

Please adjust the wall-times of all new compute jobs accordingly.

orcinus is down due to UBC power outage

Due to a building power failure, orcinus is down. Support staff is working to bring system backup ASAP.

August 8, 2014

 Today in the morning, parts of the UBC campus  suffered a complete power  failure. As a result, Orcinus went down and all running jobs were lost. Please check your intermediate data and eventually resubmit your computations. 

The full operation of the cluster has been restored today, Aug. 8 2014 late afternoon.

 We apologize for any inconveniences.

Orcinus Lustre FS

We have received the patch for the lustre FS and will apply it on  Monday, March 17, 2014 around noon. There will be a short interruption in accessing /global/home and /global/scratch FS during this time.

Lustre Filesystem Maintenance

Our filesystem vendor has suggested that we must restart the entire Lustre filesystem. As a result, we set a system-wide reservation for the following:

                  Thursday, March 6, 2014 - 11:00AM (PST)

 Please adjust your walltime accordingly. We should resume normal operations later the same day.

File System issues Friday Feb. 14, 2014, 2:00 PM PST

We have run the data consistency checks on Orcinus' FS and addressed all other file system related issues. The support team of our lustre vendor is still looking at the data we have provided.
