Objective

Data Science Platform of the George and Fay Yee Centre for Healthcare Innovation and WestGrid are hosting a 2-hour research computing workshop. The workshop aims to promote health researchers in Faculty of Health Sciences to use high performance computing resources from Compute Canada for big data analysis in health data science.

 

Topics Covered

The workshop will cover introductory topics, including:

  • How to generate a Compute Canada account
  • What computing resources are available on Compute Canada
  • How to access a specific system on Compute Canada via different platforms (Windows, Mac, etc.)
  • How confidential data will be handled on Compute Canada
  • How to upload, download and store data in Compute Canada
  • How to install user-specific software
  • How to perform a simple data analysis on Compute Canada using basic shell commands

 

Who should attend

  • Anyone interested in building knowledge and skills for computational research in health science
  • All research disciplines and skill levels are welcome
