New Digital Research Infrastructure Organization (NDRIO)
Ottawa
Ontario

In support of the Canadian post-secondary research landscape, and to ensure that it remains competitive and truly world-class, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has earmarked $375 million in funding to consolidate and revitalize the infrastructure and tools offered to researchers through the creation of the New Digital Research Infrastructure Organization (NDRIO). NDRIO will serve to operationalize this national DRI strategy by providing the Canadian researcher community with the cutting-edge digital infrastructure and tools to reap major benefits in research excellence that will aid in the attraction and retention of research talent, offer improved service delivery, and facilitate Canada’s global research leadership. NDRIO will support activities in Advanced Research Computing (ARC), Data Management (DM) and Research Software (RS) driving continued excellence in research across all disciplines. NDRIO and its Board will be trusted partners, bridge builders and collaborators working with other ecosystem partners and stakeholders across the country.

In what is a truly auspicious time for Canada’s science, innovation and economic future, the new organization is seeking a Chief Executive Officer with vision and an international perspective that will lead this exciting venture.

The new CEO’s role will be to launch and drive the early development of NDRIO, shaping the NFP as a high-performing, service-oriented organization that is driven by a culture of excellence and collaboration, and will enable Canada’s researchers and post-secondary institutions to remain competitive on the international stage. The CEO will work in partnership with the Governing Board and Members to create and operationalize the strategic plan that will provide a foundation for significant multi-year digital research infrastructure investment. Skilled in transition planning, the new CEO will lead complex negotiations and deliver on a change management strategy, providing continuity of service to Canadian researchers. A sound business manager, the CEO will be responsible for the financial, human resource and operational management. The CEO will be the spokesperson for the organization, forging strong ties with the funder, its members, other researchers, academia, industry, government and stakeholders in the international fora of advanced research computing, data management, and research software.

As the ideal candidate for CEO, you bring extensive leadership experience of a national not-for-profit along with a track record in start-ups and change management. You are regarded for your functional expertise in strategy, governance, risk, human resources, compliance, as well as your proven financial acumen. Deeply committed to advancing Canada’s research capacity, you are recognized for being a trusted relationship builder, and delivering on complex, strategic endeavours.
